The March issue of Scientific American has a small item quoting a January
Biological Conservation report about bubbling nitrogen in ships' ballast
tanks. The idea originated as a means to reduce costly rusting, but it
could also help prevent the spread of organisms which require oxygen, such
as mollusk larvae.
