I recently had a paper accepted for publication that demonstrates that the
analysis that provided the basis for breaking up Turridae, and moving some
turrids into Conidae was not done correctly. I recommend using the
traditional classification until the issue is resolved.
 
Concerning number of species of mollusks, I'd say more than 100,000, but how
many more, nobody knows. Philippe Bouchet (1997, Veliger 40: 1-11) found
that new valid species are being discovered at an increasing rate and stated
"For the foreseeable future, micromollusks, the deep-sea, and the marine and
non-marine tropics will remain effectively inexhaustible reservoirs of
undescribed species."
