Bruce Livett & some other Conus people:

Some time ago, I mentioned that Frank Perron had raised almost all the
Hawaiian Conus from eggs, and that I would try to get hold of him and
get an article on the subject. Months have gone by. I asked on CONCH-L
whether anyone had his Email address. After several months, his brother
Jacob Emailed me and said that Frank wasn't on Email, but gave me his
mail address.

I wrote Frank and asked for an article or material for an article. He
sent me three copies of articles on the subject that he had put in
magazines/journals. It will take a while to turn them into an article,
but I will work on it.

Meanwhile the references are:

(1) "Growth, Fecundity, and Mortality of Conus Pennaceus in Hawaii" by
Frank E. Perron. Ecology, 64(1), 1983, pp 53-62 Copywrite 1983 by the
Ecological Society of America.

(2) "Laboratory Culture of the Larvae of Conus Textile Linne
(Gastropoda: Toxoglossa)" by Frank E. Perron. J. exp. mar. Biol.
Ecol., 1980, Vol 42, pp. 27-28 Copywrite Elsevier/North-Holland
Biomedical Press.

(3) "Larval Growth and Metamorphosis of Conus (Gastropoda: Toxoglossa)
in Hawaii" by Frank E. Peron. Pacific Science (1981), vol.35 no. 1.
Copywrite 1981 by The University Press of Hawaii.

One of the things Frank's work did was his resolving a question of
whether what was being called "Conus elisae" here was actually a form of
Conus pennaceus. At our request he raised cones from C. elisae eggs and
some were normal C. pennaceus and some C. elisae form.

Aloha,

Wes.
