Dear Andy,
I had good results tieing the chitons on a smooth and plane surface,
such as a strip of plastic from an old credit card, and by merging
the whole in a suited solution after death. Thi solution was from
ethanol alcohol and glycerol, say 40% of ethanol and 60% glycerol.
After a time interval depending on the chiton size (about one or two
days for an inch length), I retrieved the chiton and had it dried on
a clean surface. The advantage is that the chiton will remain flexible.
