The rattling inside is more likely a piece of the first internal whorls which broke off and became
lose inside.

I also cut a specimen to see what was making that sound and saw it. The shell absorbs internal walls
maybe to reuse the calcium outside, as it happens with Olives and Conus. Sometimes there is just a
very thin layer left which hangs in place by the animal. Once you remove the animal these walls
breaks off making the rattling sound.
