> Telling left from right valves is not one of my strengths, but I get
really confused about pectinid left and right valves. Upper and lower make a
bit more sense to me. Is there an easy way to remember?<

Pectinids sit on the right valve, which is often deeper (especially in
Pecten, Euvola, etc.). The ear with more of a notch (especially on
the right valve) is anterior. Oysters sit on their left valve.
