Hi ya all:

The first Shell of Event of 2009 is the Space Coast Seashell Festival at the
Melbourne Auditorium, 625 Hibiscus, Melbourne, Florida on January 17th  9 -
5 p.m.   January 18th   9- 4 p.m.

Over 30 Dealers.

News - July 19-23

Come early and enjoy a choice of 5 shoreside excursions on Saturday, July
18th!

   First, a Dive Trip:  You will be escorted by Heyward Matthews, a
Professor of Ocean-ography and SCUBA at St. Petersburg College, to some of
his favorite dive locations on both the natural and artificial reefs in the
Gulf of Mexico.  This 8-hour trip is limited to the first 6 people who
register for the Convention and pay for this trip. Equipment and
refreshments are included.
   Or how about a Fossil Trip: Your leader for this trip south of the Bay
area will be Roger Portell of the Florida Museum of Natural History in
Gainesville.  You will be fossiling in a pit of the Pleistocene and Pliocene
eras 3-5 million years old.  Food, water, a hand rake and bucket are all
included in this 8-hour trip.  You must be at least 18 years old to
participate.
   Visit the Florida Aquarium: You will be treated to an extended "behind
the scenes tour" of one of the "best aquariums in the country".  Then you
will see the Penguin Promenade, Ocean Commotion, get to touch cownose rays
and bamboo sharks, and see the exotic leafy sea dragons from Australia on
this 7-hour trip.
   Ever see a Mermaid? You will on this 8-hour trip to Weeki Watchee Springs
State Park where "Live Mermaids" will entertain you in this spring where
more than 117 million gallons of fresh, clear water bubble out of
subterranean caverns daily.  Take the rustic river cruise and enjoy the Bird
and Animal Show while you're there.
   Tarpon Springs/Spongeorama Cruise: On this 8-hour trip you will be able
to experience the old-world charm in the "sponge capital of the world"!
Roam the docks and boutiques.then take a cruise down the Anclote River to
Anclote State Preserve where you will have time for some beachcombing,
swimming or exploring.
