I am in complete agreement with Kurt..."Know thy creature".  Many folks
here, know that a couple of years ago I was fortunate to describe a new
species of Pectinidae.  What most people do not know is that it took 12
years for me to find enough material, 3 years of hard-core research, and
another year to perform the statistical analysis and to write the paper.
And I must admit there were times I considered just throwing in the
towel.  If it had not been for the constant support and the kick in the
rear by Kim Hutsell, the shell would not have been described.
