I made a quick trip to Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the late 1990s. Just west of the capital (Avarua) I remember finding huge Trochus niloticus while wading on shallow reef flat. I also remember good snorkeling at Muri Beach on the southeast, but not finding much intertidally. I didn't have a car so I didn't have the opportunity to work my way slowly around the island, but it looked very promising - much of the coastline is rocky, and there were creek mouths that might have been good for nerites.

As for Aitutaki, I caught a run of bad weather and was limited to beachcombing and walking the reef flat in front of the Rapae Cottage Hotel (which may be called the Pacific Resort now). It was pretty good, not great, no Conus adamsonii.
