Hi Bob and all,

What species of cowries have you maintained, and what have you fed them? I
am curious if others have seen cowries feeding on both plants and animals.
It does indeed seem that many cowries are generalists to varying degrees.
Cypraea spadicea appears to be a carnivore/carnivorous scavenger favoring
certain ascidians, sponges, and carrion over kelp. However, kelp is readily
consumed when provided, even when the cowries haven't been deprived of food
for any length of time.
