Cotton is still considered the least reactive of materials for medical
procedures and tons are used each year in prescription medicine
containers.  I have some reference materials in my pharmacognosy
collection which were sealed in the early 1900's with cotton and waxed
parchment and they still test active.  The cotton discolours upon
