Paul,
If it is not a European species then why is Anadara inaequivalvis
(Bruguiere) listed on page 42 of Poppe's and Goto's "European Seashells"?
They describe it as a Lessepsian (??) species that migrated to the
Mediterranean about 30  years ago.  Do you suppose it is all the same thing?

(Apologies, I do not have the new 2 vol Austrailian SeaShells that might
have answered this question for me.  Seashells of Western Austraila does not
mention it and neither does Shells of the Philippines )
