Hubricht's monograph is an incredibly helpful resource. I hope that one
day we can have a similar resource with non-native terrestrial
gastropods. Although the range of non-native species can change so
quickly, there are still so few resources to use, especially current
ones.

Dear Jody, Marien, and several others,
This is a good illustration of what Conch-L can do to aid collaboration.
Jody, As you may know, Leslie treated the non-native landsnails of
eastern
North America with relative disregard. He purposely excluded them from
his
magnum opus (Hubricht, 1988).* Somehow I hadn't thought to go to the
searchable databases malacology collections in the Field Museum
(Chicago)
and Florida Museum of Natural History (Gainesville). As far as I know,
these two are the two most extensive such resources for nonmarine snails
-
at least in the United States, and I thank you for bringing these to our
attention. Links are given below, and here is the gist of the discovery
for
additional records of Trichia hispida (Linnaeus, 1758):
VERMONT. Washington Co., Montpelier (before 6/94; UF 222351)
NEW JERSEY. Atlantic Co., Atlantic City (before 6/94; UF 222607
NEW YORK. Schoharie Co., 1.4 miles S of Sharon (L. Hubricht! 1958; FMNH
78676)
NEW YORK. Schoharie Co., 3.6 mi NW of Richmondville (L. Hubricht!
1981;
FMNH 267849; 267850)
ILLINOIS. Lillycache Co., near Joliet (E.E. Hand! 1911; FMNH 65020)
ILLINOIS. Cook Co., along Skokie River, 0.25 miles west of Willow Road
Dam
(J. Slapcinsky! before 112/04; UF 294176)
ALABAMA, Mobile Co., Mobile (before 11/97; UF 97804)
And Thanks to Marien for his record:
NEW YORK. (?)Tompkins Co., Taughannock Falls. (H. J. Hopman! 10/81;
Hopman,
1982**)
I don't know if these will work, but these are the webpages for the two
databases used:
