Our local (SoFla) wrecks attract large colonies of Hexaplex
fulvescens. Two weeks ago, observed a small colony of six (one 8
1/2"), three of which were actively laying eggs. All activity
was in an area about two feet by three feet in a hold. A
week later, the same six were still in the same spot, and
appeared to be guarding and cleaning the eggs. Will try to visit
them again this weekend if conditions (and hurricanes) allow.

Any tips on how to determine the sex of those that were not
laying eggs?

Do the males and females copulate (how long before egg laying?),
or do the males fertilize the eggs ex-ovum?

Anyone know the gestation period of H. fulvescens eggs?

thanx
mike
