Dear Listers,
Although we accrue new images and stories on Bill Frank's
jaxshells.org website (5599 pp.) at a fairly constant rate, a set of
images depicting a spontaneously disinterred Solecurtus
sanctaemarthae d'Orbigny, 1853 caught our fancy very recently.
This tellinoidean clam is rare enough in collections, but it is
almost never seen alive. The small whitish valves belie the animal's
extravagances of volume and coloration.
Thanks to Judy Townsend, Suzan Meldonian, Anne DuPont, and Bob Lipe
for various contributions to the process of bringing this feature to
fruition. See <http://www.jaxshells.org/curtis.htm> and
<http://www.jaxshells.org/sanct.htm>.
