I mainly see land snails either when I look under logs, rocks, etc. or
at night with medium to high humidity. THis includes the vicinity of
my apartment, even though there are some pest control efforts. While
pesticides, herbicides, habitat alteration, and invasive species all
contribute to declines in snails, many species have more cryptic
habits (and/or smaller size-see the latest American Conchologist) than
the conspicuous Mediterranean ones.
