AMS Meeting and Special Session Announcement:


The 77th meeting of the American Malacological Society will be held in
Pittsburgh, PA from Saturday, July 23rd through Thursday, July 28th,
2011 (http://www.malacological.org/meetings/index.php).  The meeting
will be held at Duquesne University.  Jay Cordeiro
([log in to unmask]) will be organizing a special session on the
history of conchology/malacology which would include topics such as
malacologist/ conchologist biographies, museum collections summaries/
histories, malacology bibliographies, society or institutional
histories, shell club histories, etc.  The previously planned session on
issues in molluscan conservation has been postponed until next year's
meeting June 16-21 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Due to the delay in
planning and announcing this special session, abstract submission
deadline has been extended to June 1, but earlier submissions will be
greatly appreciated.
