Amy,

Here in Columbia, smack-dab in between Baltimore and D.C. we had a
rather significant jolt...actually it was more of a rolling and
bouncing. First a light tremor followed by a half minute of rocking
and rolling. The brick facades of a handful of 100+ years old
buildings in Baltimore had bricks shaken loose; but there seems to be
no other significant damage in the outlying areas. I was at a store
when the earthquake hit. There was no doubt as to what we were
experiencing, though so many people, young and old, were clueless to
what had just happened. It does go to show you how rare quakes are
here on the east coast. For many (or most) their first earthquake
experience. By no means anywhere near quakes in other parts of the
world, but certainly enough to shake people physically and
emotionally. And for the shells...as far as I can see in the office
not even one slid or shifted. Whew!

Rich
