The family Lottiidae Gray, 1840 was named before Acmaeidae Forbes, 1850 and
so would have priority, except that they turn out to be different
anatomically. Most of the genera previously classified in Acmaeidae are now
place in Lottiidae, including Lottia (+ Collisella), Scurria, Tectura,
Niveotectura, Patelloida, Erginus, and Notoacmea. Only Acmaea (characterized
by Acmaea mitra, the white conical limpet from the Pacific northwest) and
Pectinodonta remain in Acmaeidae.

See D. R. Lindberg, 1986. Name changes in the "Acmaeidae." Veliger 29:142-148.

Yes, Lottiidae has two ii's (and Notoacmea lacks one of the a's of Acmaea).
