Bill,

We also lived in Okinawa but it does not help. I am week in common names but believe Dan hit it with his suggestion. I do not have a shell to go with the label. I have lots of shells and lots of labels and am trying to match them and the collection information. They do not always come out even. This is what happens when a well documented collection is left to loving family members who do not have an interest in the work. Thanks for your insight.

We have miles to go before we sleep.

Best regards,
Linda

Don’t know Mark but we lived lived in Okinawa. I have one Compendium of Seashells and its list of common names is brief. Our shell library is boxed due to hurricane Michael damage. Tried on line and all I can come up with is various knives with abalone inlaid handles. I am familiar with Damascus steel but that does not helping this case. Can anyone help?
