Dr. Rosenberg,

Ranella pulchra Gray was included in the genus Eupleura by H. and A.
Adams, 1853. Dall (1890) makes a very brief reference to this species in
his short review of the valid fossil and Recent species of Eupleura. I
don't have his paper in front of me, but if my memory is correct, the
reference is embedded in the text on p. 144 or 145. His only comments
were that the species is from the Philippines or Japan and that it
probably is not a valid species of Eupleura. Paul Monfils responded to my
query the other day and said that the species is in fact Biplex (Gyrineum)
perca (Perry, 1811).
