One of Paula Mikkelson's co-workers found this clam in holes made by
Squillia, or mantis shrimps, clinging to the sides of the holes. They were
extracted by "yabbi pumps" (I think that's right) which suck everything into
a tube and are used for collecting tropical fish, for one thing. Paula had
live specimens and kept them in aquaria. They would extend the foot to crawl
up the side and then drop the shell down again, holding on with the foot so
they could pull back up - like a yoyo. This is what I remember from the
presentation she gave at an AMU meeting in Key West.
