Henk's reminder that it is unwise to send live organisms from one region to
another (except perhaps cows - BSE could cause a lot more folks to turn
vegitarian, which is a GOOD thing....) is timely and a good thing for us as
malacologists & Conchologists to remember: so many dissasters have already
occured because of introduced molluscs - zebra mussels, bananana slugs,
Achatina
spp, that snail in Florida (something rosea?) that is eating up anything it
can
bore into.... One never knows if something imported for study reasons will
escape or not, so it is the best policy to study or enjoy organisms in their
home territory.

Yes agreed! On another tack, having watched a  TV program about the Med's
killer algae spreading from France I wonder how far up the Med it is now!
Has this seaweed originated from Jaque C's museum in Monaco? Its now reached
the US of A I hear! :-((
