You did not mention what you wanted the silicon for.  If it is for
lubrication, your local hardware store will have many varieties available.
If however you are looking for means to heighten the color of your shells
without the greasiness of mineral oil, you want to use Dow Corning Silicone
200 Fluid.  This is available in various container sizes and can be obtained
at industrial distributors like Graingers or McMaster-Carr.  You might also
find it at a well stocked paint store.
 
It is rather expensive and costs something like $90.00 a gallon, but this
quantity should last you years.  It works absolute magic and I think it is
worth the cost.  It is non-bioactive and non-greasy.
