At least in my neck of the woods this saying is actually "I'm fixing
to", pronounced I'm fixin to"
You think you have lots of accents? Come to Florida, the melting pot of
America. My grandparents are from CT and WV and I'm third generation
here. When I was 16 we had an Argentine exchange student and took her
to a meeting of orange growers in Ocala. She couldn't understand a word
of the old Cracker talk, but I had no problems.
