Hi Chuck,
        Yes, it is Mr. Higuchi's book that we are translating locations.  I
have not met tabakotani-san, except through e-mails but he has sent me a
book to help translate for another friend in Los Angeles.  The translation
of location names, at times is quite difficult so we have put some of the
locations on Conch-L for help, which we received from several members.
Conch-L is a great group and I've really appreciated it for the last 14
years.
        Mr. Higuchi's book is very good but Japanese malacologists and
conchologists quite often use sub genera as we use genera, and that
sometimes is quite confusing to we westerner conchologists.  Also there are
no parentheses on authors' names, which would be useful.
        Mr. Tabakotani is also working on a translation but that will have
to wait until later this year or the first part of next year.  He is a busy
working man and that takes most of his time.
