Fellow conchlers, I think that it's quite laughable that we seem to consider
anyone who is different from us to be wrong, while those like us must be
correct.

The examples of the Metric system [all right I'm embarrassed that we are
still using it in the USA], decimal points, and date writing are all
examples. I will add to the list which side of the road we drive on [much
more of a problem in shifting back and forth]. And then there's money. The
emergence of the Euro has made it simpler for travelers going to Europe
[instead of having to carry Francs, Guilders, Marks etc] now we just have to
pay outrageous bank fees to get our Euros and when we return the banks will
never take the Euro coins back and charge us fees to change the Euros back
into dollars.

But I feel that we are really much more alike than different. And the value
of visiting other countries and cultures is the richness that they possess
and the good ideas they have to share with us. Much like the people on this
list I think.

On a shelling note; do you suppose that the right-handed snails look down on
the left-handed ones as wrong? Bert Bartleson Olympia, WA. USA
