If in the lab I suspect the shorter one the 254 nano meter one. It will
sense smaller items.  However it is also dangerous to the eyes.

If on the road then the longer one makes sense as a medical issue of you
or yours or another on the road is the pits.

I never thought of this until now but since the 254nm is dangerous to
the eyes,
it might be on a restrictive list in ownership in some countries or the
airport.  One never knows nowadays.  These are not the flash bulbs that get
people in jail trouble for selling without Export permission.  Maybe classed
as medical or dangerous...  Barbers use them... water purification units
use them...

I would hope a large organization or university would advise based on their
actual tests since they might be able to use both and know one or the other
detects most or all of what we need.
