Dr. Parodiz made a powerful impression on me as a 10 year old in the early
sixties when I took some odd shell fossils into the Carnegie Museum to seek
help in IDing them. I had no expectations to meet the head of the
department, but out he came. He took time and great pleasure in explaining
what they were. I no longer have those particular items, just the memories,
which are worth more than the rocks by far. It made me realize there is
little better to do with our time than taking time to feed hungry young
minds.
