I agree. There is WOEFULLY too little research being done on landsnails.
Everyone is concerned, and rightly so, about all the larger animal species
that are becoming extinct. But there are fantastic species of snails that
are rare, threatened or already extinct, due to habitat destruction.
Some South Pacific Partulas are being raised in captivity.  Attempts are
being made, with little success, I think, to save the remaining forms of
Hawaiian Achatinellas. A couple of researchers in the UK have attempted to
keep Amphidromus in captivity, again, with virtually no success. There is so
much we don't know about land snails that any new research would be an
improvement. Pete K.
