> I have been trying to find out what the fossil relatives of Artica islantica are using my limited fossil reference library. Tucker Abbott says on page 518 of his "AMERICAN SEASHELLS" 2nd ed that there are numerous fossil species in the family. I was wondering if anyone knew what they are and where one might find them. Are there any fossil relatives which can be found in North America and if so, where?

The Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology cites genera more or less
worldwide in the Mesozoic and a few genera form the Cenozoic of
Europe, plus Arctica itself, from Cretaceous to Recent. Older
publications often use Cyprina for Arctica. Etea (type species from
the Cretaceous of North Carolina), Hartwellia, Schedotrapezium (type
species from Cretaceous of California), Tenea (type species from
Cretaceous of Texas), and Veniella (type species from Cretaceous of
Mississippi) are other genera cited from the U.S. Cretaceous marine
beds can be found through much of North America, so there's a decent
chance of possibilities somewhere near you.
