Fabio & others -

What you need is an inspection eye loupe. Which is a nX lens and
engraved or film
of various scales (inches and mm ) and angles and holes of very small items.
OPTICAL COMPARATOR is a key phrase.

http://www1.mscdirect.com page 1397 The SPI top left is a standard
inspection
hand lift over a part or set over onto a plate/table... unit used in
Printed Circuit
and IC inspection areas.

In inches - and one in mm. The mm is 300x. and I believe it states
graticule in .oo2mm
Thus a user can read 10 or 11 of these easily and not 1.2 of the other...
The mag might be to high for .1mm grads. Real shell size forces the scale.

Closer to reality - maybe :

The bottom unit is like what I have here in my metal shop. :-)
And this will provide the user with more options. Measure curvature or
angular
dimensions, not just length...

The 7 or 10 x kit of all measuring scales is around $150 USD.

The odd looking /\/\ lines are for thread matching. Useful elsewhere.

This is small enough to pack in a kit for a field trip. *Item #03183852*
which has reticles 1,5,7,8 and 12 and is 10x. I'd paste in the web page
but it exceeds line width...
you can search for the item number above directly as well as page 1397
for the group.

MSC is the largest company to company - company. Very likely a vendor
to the college.
They are to me and have been for years.

Very likely these are available in local machine shop supply company.
But are
next day or 2 day from MSC.
