Just because they have "already been named" is not in and of itself
justification for the name to exist.  Have you ever considerd that the
original species concept may be incorrect?  If you have species A and
species C, and then find that you another coexisting "species" that looks a
lot like A and also a lot like C, perhaps it is not a species B but simply
that A & C are forms of the same species.

The old, and useful, biological word "sport" has seemingly been forgotten.

Also, using examples from botany is not like comparing apples and oranges
but more like apples and orangutans. There are good reasons why botanists
have their own code of nomenclature.
