Sorry had to re-register online on my comp but answering on a iphone
doesn't seem to require this? As far as i know the resulting disappearance
of pacei isn't written down in any journal. I live in Hawaii but sometimes
may spend over a month in Florida at a time. This was a local shelling
fact repeated by the original discoverer. Ok, that may not wash 100%
as "scientific" but was also repeated in conversation by the Author who
accompanied the discoverer to the restricted indigineous habitat. Latter
visitations produced no specimens as far as i know to the present. The
proof is no living new specimens are coming up. Had nothing to due with
habitat destruction or pollution as there's no evidence of this. This
shows how fragile a species may be if the only known habitat is
restrictively small, accessable, and known. In Hawaii this was the case
with Partulina and Achatinella where shells from one mountain ridge grove
was different from a ridge grove only a 1,000yards away on a different
facing ridge. If you transplanted the species they'd die off. Over
collecting added to some of the species extinction. Pacei may be a extinct
marine species now. The only specimens available are from older
collections. Nothing new or fresh has been recently sold. CT
