Dear Andy;-
    Species wont go away just because we want it to. The best I can
come up with is the description by Roger Dunn:  Species is "---a kind
of life that can have grandchildren. For example, the horse is a
species  because it can breed with its kind and have little horses.
And these can have more horses. The horse can also breed with an ass,
but the result---a mule-- is only a hybrid and not a species. It can
have children rarely and grandchildren never."
