Hi Marlo and Ron,

I have a Canon D10, ditto for surfing and shorebreak pictures (lots of sand and churning water), not to mention the great quality of the macro shots it can take. It is indeed a great camera.

The Canon PowerShot D10 fits the bill if you want an inexpensive camera. 12.1 Megapix with macro down to 1.2 inch. I’ve only used mine for surfing photos, but it’s quite good.

I am buying a new camera and would like some advice from the members of the list. I need a camera with the following features:

-- waterproof (shallow water)
-- shock proof
-- good macro features (for closeups down to microshells)
-- image stabilization (sports shots)
-- fairly compact
