Hi, Dale.

Here at Northeast Natural History & Supply, we distribute archival museum specimen trays. It sounds like this is what you require and I hope you will consider our product. Our specimen trays are designed for curation, storage, rehousing, and display; and can be utilized for shells, minerals, skeletal material, feathers, eggs, skins, anthropological objects, fossils, glass vials, as well as other materials, memorabilia, and valuables. In your case, we can make ANY size trays to accommodate the smallest pupillids to the largest conch and trumpet shells. Archival trays are custom-manufactured in a variety of sizes and are nested for maximum storage efficiency.

Our products are 100% archival and acid-free. Trays come pre-assembled (not flat and self-folding), overwrapped, and are constructed of glazed white corrugated cardboard. We can line trays with plastazote or ethafoam, unbleached cotton, or polyester batting for use with delicate specimens. We have supplied large institutions, small museums, and individuals and can accommodate any size dimensions you require. This allows for exact size matching with existing trays already in use in your collection.

Please contact me at your convenience and I can send images, product specs, samples, and/or pricing.

Regards,

jay

Subject: [CONCH-L] Need suggestions for small boxes to store shells

The ASU School of Life Sciences received another large shell collection (I previously mentioned the Roworth collection). Much of it is still in large boxes and in no order. What I need is the myriad small (display?) boxes to sort them into so we can keep things in order in cabinets once we have them. Our Melville and some of the Roworth collections are currently sorted into small black boxes that have no lids, but there is no vendor information available.

Where can I purchase small, shallow boxes suitable for collections? I need sizes ranging from 2" x 1.5" to 7" x 4.25", and a few about 8.5" x 11" (for large lots of small shells).

I am not a professional curator or manager of a collection, and I don't even know what these boxes are called. Can someone direct me to a vendor's website?

Thanks.
