In case anyone is following the story of Swiss Air 101, i thought i
would report that all 229 passengers and crew have been identified, as
of a few days ago. Much of the work was done by DNA analysis- profiles
were built up from relatives, and painstakingly compared to the DNA of
the "remains". This represents a resolution of sorts for the families.
The cause of the accident seems to have been in the wiring, but the
million or so fragments must be examined before a final answer emerges!
Temperatures inside the plane in the final seconds apparently reached
1100 degrees or more. However, air travel is STILL the safest way to
get around the planet, so if you are flying soon, please relax- you are
FAR safer than in a car, bus or even train!!
