Hi ya all:
 
This morning as I read the paper...the headline was "Beach mouse
disappearing"!!!
 
The southeastern beach mouse has vanished from So. Brevard Beaches.
During a study last week it was found no beach mice south of Sebastian
Inlet State Park.
The mouse remains on Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Station
because IT IS PROTECTED FROM DEVELOPMENT!!!
 
Beach mice live along dunes that separate beaches from island areas.
The concluded cause was loss of habitat!!
 
As man develops more and more beach property.....so goes the shells.
Interesting that when we go to the Bahamas (no beach
renourishment...beaches all left natural....no buildings on the
beaches)   that there are still shells everywhere????  AND still plenty
of Queen Conchs...which the Bahamians have harvested by the hundreds
every day for hundreds of years!!!!
 
Just something to think about!!!
 
Yes man will eventually ruin his own domain as the population continues
to grow and, unfortunately, I doubt if anything will stop
it...especially for those seeking to develop all the areas along our
beaches.
