Dear Wes et al.,
Among the most dichotomous metamorphoses are the of juvenile (not larval) to
adult Chamids and Unionoideans. I puzzled over the Irus-like (Venerid)
juvenile of Arcinella cornuta Conrad, 1866 for about a year before wising
up. I haven't thought about functional morphology, but in the Tom Watters
has pondered the latter group.
