Actually the warm water outlets contain just that.. Warm Water. Thats what
kills off the biota in the surrounding streams of a nuclear power plant. The
water should be about 64F and it goes up to 72F. Most nuclear power plants
are much safer that some of the other power sources and if any radiation was
infact released (rare) it goes into the air for all us air breathers to
enjoy. Now I don't know the positioning of this particular plant (is it on a
river that feeds within about 8 miles of the ocean or is it further inland?)
but I seriously doubt that your cyp was affected by the environmental
conditions associated with the plant. I would just think more of a random
genetic mutation

I franky would be much more concerned about the runoff from farmer fields
(pesticides, silt etc) and the waste from Paper mills. Ever heard of Dioxin?
