Conchologists,
I wonder if anyone knows of a source for recycle class 1 PETE wide-mouth
jars for keeping big samples of shells or drifted material. We used to
largely depend on peanut butter jars from a soup kitchen (see picture at
http://pinicola.ca/cldm.htm ) but those aren't available, and we're
overwhelmed with frozen and dried samples. We've now got some money to
buy jars, but we can't find a supplier: evidently manufacturers are
unwilling to ship small quantities, and the local food container
suppliers don't stock things that don't stack, as jars don't.
I wonder if anyone else stores specimens in this kind of container, and
if they have a more direct way of getting them than just urging their
spouse to buy products that come in suitable jars.
fred.
