I sympathize with Harry's struggle... That shell has the colors of Thala
violacea, but with a "columbelloid" aperture ...

Dear Olivier,
Paul C. indicated the familial placement of Thala yesterday. He and Gary
Rosenberg have experience with this mitriform group and may be able to
identify your Reunion shell to the species level.
I think I see columella plicae on your shell, but I can't fully convince
myself. It's looking a bit more like homoplasy (convergence) than larval
lifestyle changeout.

Yes Harry, I agree it's not a Raphitomid.
I discover the genus Thala in Costellariidae (Paul Callomon was right when
he proposed first to check this family). So for this white shell, maybe it
's a juvenile of Thala cernica (Sowerby II, 1874). And the purple shells
belong to Kermia pumila, OK.

Dear Olivier,
I think it's possible that your Reunion shell is not a Kermia or even a

A third alternative: I'm all wet!
