I wonder if anyone else thought the "P. ohiensis" on
the last link looked rather skinny for the species?
It looks exactly like the figure 201 in Burch of
"Leptodea amphichaena" (=Potamilus amphichaenus).
In fact, it looks almost exactly like the photo of
that species in Howells et. al. Howells says that
the length to height ratio of P. amphichaenus is
greater than 1.5 to 1, while P. ohiensis is less than
that. I measure the shell in the P. ohiensis photo
at about 1.73 to 1...
