I do not know if the mine will be open for the 2000 season. Official word for
the closing has been anything from excessive rain due to hurricanes to increased
mining activity. However from what I have been told by someone supposedly in
the know is that the new manager does not like having collectors around due to
liability concerns. In the past, there have been call in dates for clubs to
gain entry for spring and fall weekends and probably no one will know for sure
until early next year.

Subject: Lee Creek Mine

Hi Michael!

Since you mentioned Lee Creek Mine....is it closed? I'd heard somewhere that
the mine changed ownership or something like that and was closed to public.

Two years ago I was fortunate enough to get in the lottery and land two seats on
the bus going for an October field day at the mine. Unfortunately my husband
and I were unable to make the trip up there.

Here's hoping we get another chance at the mine someday?????
