According to a recent FWC press release, a new ban on shell
collecting is in the works. Apparently Fort Myers Beach
has proposed a ban on collecting live shells within the
city.  It is agenda item 36 for the Jacksonville FWC meeting.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will meet at the
Jacksonville Radisson Riverwalk Hotel Feb. 2-4. Commissioners will address
inland and freshwater issues Wednesday (Feb. 2) and marine issues Thursday
and Friday.

   36.Review of the Fort Myers Beach request to prohibit harvest of live
shells within the city.
