In addition to the points already made, I'd like to say that I find
advertising very intrusive and it's a relief to find some space in my life
that's ad-free.

I don't see anything wrong with MENTIONING briefly that a product or
service exists and how to access it. However, it's the WAY advertisers go
about referring to their wares, e.g., when someone characterizes their
prices and products (e.g.,"unbeatable"). It's intrusive and it sets up just
the kind of response given.
