<< What are some examples of lost but lovely names in the Mollusca? >>

Well, there was Triton, now Charonia
Xancus, now turbinella
Livona, now Cittarium
Cyprina, now Arctica
Fulgar, now Busycon
Dolium, now Tonna
Loripinus, now Anodontia
Raeta, now Anatina
Echinochama, now Arcinella
Halia, now Ampulla
Eburna, now Babylonia
Corbis, now Fimbria
Of course, the "loveliness" of the old names - or the new ones - is a matter
of personal opinion!
