From "Common Land Snails of Los Angeles County, California" 1995, by Joe
Cocke regarding Theba pisana

DISTRIBUTION: Native to the Mediterranean area, now distributed to many
parts of the world and southern California.

NOTES: This is an introduced pest that is very damaging to crops and
became established in Orange and Los Angeles Counties back in the 1930's.
The Department of Agriculture eradicated them in 1940, after a massive and
costly program. This species has recently been found in San Diego County
and may be re-established in Los Angeles County.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Charlie
