Dear friends,

I have two taxonomic questions for the experts among
the Conchlers:

A) About the so called "sibling species" : should they
be considered true biological species ? And if there
is an unknown (but possible) "chain" which might
    joint them ?

B) Linnaeus on is 10th (1758) editions of Systema Naturae
named two (since Voluta ispidula is an Agaronia) olives
   (assigned to genus Voluta) :
    Voluta porphyria, p.729, n.349 and
    Voluta oliva, p.729, n.350
In 1789 Bruguiere estabilished the genus Oliva, and the
type for this newly named genus was Oliva oliva (Linnaeus, 1758)
    by tautonomy and monotypy.
In 1798 Roding, on his book "Museum Boltenianum" named
many olives with a new genus called Porphyria.
The question is : Bruguiere named the new genus before than
Roding, ok ! But in the Linnaeus' book porphyria comes before
than oliva (and both surely belong to the same genus) !
Who takes the precedence ? What does the ICZN say ?

I will be very grateful to all you for your thoughts.

Warmest regards from the rainy North Italy,

Maurizio.

P.S. Does anyone have news about the healt of Paul Drez ?
